Baby massage is one of the most relaxing and effective ways to bond with your baby. Research has confirmed the extensive benefits of massage for both parents and child. Lessons are a great way for baby and Dad to develop their own special bonding practice; parents can learn together as a way of reconnecting each day; or Mum can even combine postnatal massage with private lessons to receive relaxation and support throughout her recovery.

Baby massage courses comprise a series of five lessons in which parents learn simple techniques for babies under one year old.  Classes are taught on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.  Techniques are drawn from Swedish & Indian Massage, Reflexology and Yoga. This ancient tradition has been passed down from generation to generation and is now recommended by pedaetricians across the globe.  Instruction is certified by the International Association of Infant Massage.

Benefits

Studies now prove the comprehensive benefits of baby massage for parents and baby alike. Specific techniques are taught to relieve colic, teething, constipation and congestion.  Other benefits include more regulated sleep patterns, increased blood circulation, and improved muscle tone.  Massage also boosts the immune system and improves the condition of your baby’s skin.

In classes, you will learn how to adapt techniques as your baby grows so that benefits are reaped throughout your child’s life.  These techniques facilitate body awareness and greater coordination, enhancing physical and cognitive development.  Children who receive massage demonstrate improved learning skills and greater self-confidence.  Parents also benefit from increased relaxation, lowered blood pressure, and improved mood.  They learn to trust their intuitive wisdom as parents in answering their baby’s needs and making them feel loved.

Private tuition allows for more individualised attention, particularly when babies have special needs, while group classes remain small in number (usually no more than 5), which creates an intimate support group where lasting bonds are formed between participants, enriching families’ lives for years to come.
